5. The look-out tower

This wonderful house lies on the Warren side of the river stretch between Caversham and Purley and features a domed shaped turret with a dome on it.
It you look closely into the room in broad daylight you will see something on a stand glittering yellow and as sure as ashes are ashes this must be a telescope.
The owner has a boat called Sea Watch and so putting two and two together and making three and a bit, we can assume that the owner was once a seafaring person. In the past twenty years up until now, we have never seen a person in the grounds of this house and not until passing it on our return journey.
The Captain  was pointing out “That in all these years running up and down this river , I’ve never seen a soul at that house” but on the return journey, we saw four  elderly guys chatting , one who looked like the guy from the Captain Birdseye advert chatting to another guy in front of  a vessel named “Sea Watch”. The Captain said “I can only surmise that that old sea dog has now returned to dry land after spending most of his life at sea. And what would he be watching out from that tower then ?” asked the Cabin Boy ,” Submarines in non-tidal waters , invaders from Tilehurst , the odd bikini clad chick  or just making sure that his old habits don’t  die easily, take your pick Billy “ said the First Mate.
